I was born in Toledo, Ohio, and grew up in a military household, where my mother, brother, sister, and I followed my father’s military service worldwide. During his Air Force career, he was stationed in Alabama, Italy, Scotland, Michigan, Colorado, and finally, San Antonio, Texas, where I met my future husband at Roosevelt High School. As a young girl, I always wanted to be a teacher. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Texas State and a master’s degree in Mid Management in Education from Trinity University, I was blessed to spend my entire career in the North East Independent School District in various roles. My 41-year career included teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades and serving as an assistant principal and principal. As principal, I had the honor of opening Stone Oak Elementary School, which at the time was the very first school to break ground in the Stone Oak area. 2010, I was selected to be the first principal and open Tuscany Heights Elementary School. In the next phase of my educational journey, I was called upon to serve as a district leader as the Executive Director for School Improvement (Curriculum) and Executive Director for Performance and Planning. I then worked for the University of Incarnate Word, supervising student teachers, often in NEISD Schools.

My husband and I are NEISD graduates graduating from Roosevelt High School. Our daughter graduated from Churchill High School, and our son from Reagan High School. Both went on to pursue college degrees successfully.

Volunteering is a passion. As a parent, I served on the Churchill and Reagan Booster Club Boards, the Churchill Spirit Booster Club Board, and the Reagan Campus Improvement Committee. I was a charter member of the Reagan PTA and served on the Reagan mascot committee. I am the past president of the St. Thomas Episcopal School Board (effective Feb 2024) and a Lay Reader, and I serve on the Welcome Team at St. Thomas. As a Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) member, I have been the chapter’s recording secretary, vice-regent, and regent (president). Through the DAR, I attend naturalization ceremonies, Honor Fight Welcome Homes, Wreaths Across America, prepare meals for veterans’ families at the Fisher House, organize pinning ceremonies for Vietnam veterans, and so much more. In addition, I am active in Raise Your Hand Texas educator advocacy activities.
